I did the ultra beast in Tahoe. When we asked them about cut off times, they don't give you a straight up answer. Once they need to call it they do. We started at 630 am and cut off times began at 9 pm. I think after 14 hours they cut you off. 3.
Weather: Spring Break for Spartans. A 25% chance of rain is typically expected this time of year in Boca Raton. Though racing in the rain might typically sound miserable, it can actually be nice to help cool you off if the temperatures reach into the 80s (which they definitely can in late April). Prepare for a warm, muggy day.
Disclaimer: also training for my first ultra beast in 2016. My plan is as follows: strength training for the next couple of months (with cardio sprinkled in to avoid endurance loss), then I plan to go hard with running (trails, mountains, and roads) for the following 3-4 months. This means I've really amped up running into my training. I train on an old 4X4/motorbike track through hilly bushland and hit about 12km's each run. Although the Super is 14 km's long, I know my time running consistant for 12 will be pretty much on par with what I hope will be my race day time. Also, burpees by the truckload. At least 100 a day.
Apart from stretching and FOOOOOOD, go for a few light walks. I typically feel miserable and don't enjoy it, but for me it helps a lot. 20-30 mins of a walk for 2-3 times after the Beast.

Hc3V. If you fail a bunch of obstacles (10 or more) you may not finish in the time limit. The Ultra also has a bunch of obstacles in "Beast mode" which is the most difficult mode of Spartan obstacles (harder grips in the multi-rig, heavier weight in the herc hoist, etc). A weighted vest probably won't do much for you, honestly. It could lead to injury.

This will keep your mileage increasing and manageable. ensure you get tons of elevation. Can be done on your trail runs or on a stair master/ incline trainer. I hear recommendations of aiming for 7 k of incline a week. 2-3 days a week engage in strength training for grip, pull ups and possibly lunges.
